Year 5 Safeside Visit
On Wednesday 28th January 2026 Year 5 will be visiting the Safeside Centre to experience the Smart Choices Programme. This fantastic trip is invaluable for the coming years as children begin to gain more freedom and venture out alone. The life-like setting includes a road crossing, bus, train, canal, house, alleyway, police station and street scene. The programme comprises a full day visit in which the children will experience four zones exploring the themes of road, water, fire, electrical and personal safety. They will be guided through activities and experiences by a team of staff and volunteer safety advisers. The children are encouraged to think for themselves, learn about the possible consequences of actions and build the confidence to make Smart Choices in different life situations, recognising dangers around them and making sensible decisions about their safety. The cost of the trip is £12.71 and should be paid via your ParentPay account.
· The trip lasts all day. Children should arrive at the usual time in the morning but need to be collected after the end of the school day at 3.45pm from the infant playground gate, unless they are going to Monkeys Teatime Club. Please indicate collection arrangements by following the link.
· Children will be required to wear school uniform.
· They will need a packed lunch and water bottle, which should be packed in a disposable bag (no nuts or glass bottles please).
